In 2020, Nick Velasco 鈥08 was presented with the opportunity to move from Rochester to Brisbane, Australia, as part of his work with L3Harris Technologies. Nick and his wife, Molly Dougherty 鈥12, excitedly accepted but, due to COVID-19, the move was delayed to November 2020.
Just a few months later, in February 2021, the couple welcomed a son, Oliver James. As he was born on Australia鈥檚 鈥淪unshine Coast,鈥 the family needed to secure Oliver鈥檚 United States citizenship by making a trip to Sydney.
The pair is in Australia on a two-year assignment. Nick鈥檚 work supports the Defence Forces in Australia and New Zealand, providing radio communications technology for military personnel across the globe.
