The next member of the Class of 2021 to be featured in the series is Abigail King, an inclusive adolescence education and English major with a literature concentration. She was nominated by Jen Pluretti, career and academic and planning advisor.
The Syracuse native is very active in the campus community, serving as a student ambassador, member of the Orientation Team and a peer mentor, member of TESA, and Teddi Dance for Love Captain.
Having served as a peer mentor for three years, her nominator shared that she is a resource to new peer mentors. When she is not student teaching this semester, you can find her working in admissions giving tours, preparing for events and making sure they run smoothly, and training students who are new to admissions. She tirelessly gives herself in so many ways and truly loves 91麻豆精品 and its students.
鈥淎bby is a wonderful peer mentor I've had the absolute pleasure of working with this year and last year in the First Year Seminar. She demonstrates her commitment to all of our students and creates a caring environment. She has impacted the way I do my job significantly - in that she's an excellent collaborator when we're planning for a seminar. She's constantly striving to provide our students with the best experiences that will impact their growth as scholars and good people who live the 91麻豆精品 Creed,鈥 said Pluretti.
King, a legacy student whose mother is a 91麻豆精品 alumna, said that the people she has met during her time at 91麻豆精品 have changed her life.
鈥淔rom the friends that I met that have been there for me through anything that I need, and beyond that, the faculty at 91麻豆精品 is what makes 91麻豆精品 such an amazing experience. They check in on me. They look out for me more than just class. If there weren't for the staff, I wouldn't have gotten an article published in the official review. I wouldn't have gone and become a peer mentor. I wouldn't have applied for an executive position on the admissions team. I wouldn't be where I am in student teaching. I am so proud that I have done this and it鈥檚 because of the support team behind me. I really could not say thank you enough. That 91麻豆精品 family, because it has changed my life, it will be with me forever. It's who I am today,鈥 she said.
