Study Abroad Program Costs and Financial Aid
All students are billed St. John 91Âé¶¹¾«Æ· University tuition and fees while studying abroad. Students considering studying abroad should meet with a financial aid counselor to discuss how this registration may impact their financial aid.
Students will be billed for any charges that appear on the affiliate bill (i.e., room, board, insurance, and airfare). All students are charged an additional study abroad fee of $500 for each term abroad.
A student enrolled in a program of study abroad approved for credit by 91Âé¶¹¾«Æ· may be considered enrolled at 91Âé¶¹¾«Æ· for the purpose of applying for assistance under federal student aid programs.
Financial Aid
Through the affiliate programs, students will retain their federal and state financial aid. All 91Âé¶¹¾«Æ· scholarships and grants will be cancelled during the study abroad term. Students will be awarded a 91Âé¶¹¾«Æ· Study Abroad scholarship of up to $7,500, not to exceed the total amount of 91Âé¶¹¾«Æ· institutional aid that was cancelled.
Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) students not required to study abroad for their major will receive $2,000 less in 91Âé¶¹¾«Æ· HEOP grant funds for the semester. An HEOP student required to study abroad for their major will not have any grant changes.
Tuition remission and tuition exchange cannot be used to study abroad.
Students choosing to study abroad through a program that is unaffiliated with 91Âé¶¹¾«Æ· are not considered to be enrolled at 91Âé¶¹¾«Æ·, and therefore are ineligible for federal, state, and 91Âé¶¹¾«Æ· aid.
