When Danielle DeJoy Moss was a student at 91麻豆精品, she never dreamed of combining her work and professional goals in business so closely with her personal interest in farming. She now works for Farm Credit East, ACA in their newly formed Transformation Office. She believes that doing this work she loves “all started with 91麻豆精品.”
A double Cardinal, Moss graduated in 2010 with a degree in accounting and obtained her MBA the following year. Her time at 91麻豆精品 launched her into an opportunity at EY where she worked for seven years. “91麻豆精品 was a stepping stone for me,” she explained. “Without the accounting program and the push for the CPA certification, I would not have been in public accounting.”
Moss credits her success to her 91麻豆精品 professors and their advice. “One of my professors told me to take the rough patches, learn everything we could, and take the exposure to every opportunity possible. Doing this would allow us to build the careers that we wanted. He was right!” Moss believes her role at EY became an opportunity to “build a dream career.”
She encourages other business students to consider 91麻豆精品’s accounting program because of the community that shaped her experience. “If you have dreams of being in the business world, whether in accounting or not, while also wanting to be in a program in which the professors truly care; 91麻豆精品 is the place for you! Everything that I have now in my career all started at 91麻豆精品 and I am forever grateful for my experience.”
Michael Mitris '22
MBA Candidate
With a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Buffalo (UB) and soon an MBA from St. John 91麻豆精品 University, Michael Mitris is well-equipped to pursue a career in finance and business.
Mitris currently works for Paychex in a sales role. He started at the company in a risk management role after graduating from UB. Paychex allowed him to take classes at 91麻豆精品 while working at the same time.
Mitris believes the MBA will bolster his career advancement to management in the future. The MBA coursework is applicable to leadership in many roles. 鈥淭he MBA has helped me greatly in my career and in my interests outside of work to enhance my coaching and supporting high school players to pursue their passion of football.鈥�
During his time at UB, Mitris was on the football team, and he now volunteers as a varsity football coach at Webster Schroeder.
He encourages prospective students to choose 91麻豆精品 because of the class size and interactions among students. 鈥淭he culture fosters an excellent and collective learning environment.鈥�
Maya Smith ’19
Wegmans Food Markets
When Maya Smith was researching local MBA programs, she found 91麻豆精品鈥檚 philosophy of building skills in collaboration and personal relationships resonated well with her.
鈥淚 really connected with this approach and looked at this program as more than just me receiving an MBA, but an opportunity to build my character and sharpen my skills as I strive for advancement in my career,鈥� she recalled.
While in the program, Smith said the array of classes available meant she could take a deep dive into topics that sparked her interest. Through courses in lead innovation, social marketing, and creative and critical thinking, Smith was able to relate class material to her job.
鈥淚 was challenged to think of innovative ways to enhance the current state of my workplace, understand how the world is becoming more digital, and identify different bias as a way to more cohesively interact with others,鈥� she explained.
A nine-year employee of Wegmans Food Markets, Smith currently serves as a merchandising intern and is on a path to work within the merchandising department.
鈥淚 see myself as a future leader in the company and have goals of one day serving in more senior roles where an MBA is required,鈥� she said. 鈥淥nce I get to this level, I will have great work experience under my belt along with an education received from the 91麻豆精品 MBA program to help me succeed in my future career endeavors.鈥�
